BALLET
FOLKLORICO DE MEXICO
COMES TO PRINCETON!
Dear
Friends:
One
of the premier exponents of
Latin American culture is
coming to town and we are
excited to extend a special
invitation for
you to attend the one-time
performance of the world-famous
Ballet Folklorico de Mexico,
at Princeton’s
McCarter’s
Theatre,
on Saturday, September
29, at 7:30 PM. In addition,
we offer you the opportunity
to sponsor an
immigrant
youngster from our community
to attend the event.
A reception to meet
the young people and
interact
with members
of the ballet will follow.
Please join us as we
come together in an
evening of beauty, inspiration,
and solidarity.
Times
are trying for immigrants,
especially children who
experience increasing hardship,
and uncertainty given
government’s failure
to rationalize immigration
policy. As a tax exempt
501(C) 3 organization, LALDEF’s
mission
is to defend and
promote civil rights and
increase access to education
among Latinos in the Greater
Princeton Area.
We are a
non-partisan entity committed
to justice and the advancement
of the values that have
made America a
beacon of
light for all nations. We
want immigrant children
to embrace those values
at the same time that they
learn about and appreciate
the traditions of their
ancestors. We aim to create
unity where others promote
divisiveness. It is in that
spirit that we ask you to
join hands with us.
Amalia
Hernandez’ Ballet
Folklorico de Mexico is
recognized as one of the
world’s treasures.
Founded in 1952 the
company
of 75 has its home at the
Palace of Fine Arts, Mexico’s
main center for aesthetic
and cultural advance.
It
has garnered more than 200
awards to become that
country’s
best ambassador and an international
source of
pride. In partnership
with the McCarter Theater,
for a contribution of
only $100.00, we offer you
one ticket to
attend this
unique event, and admission
to a private reception with
members of the ballet
after the performance.
Your
contribution will also make
it possible for an immigrant
youngster from our community
to attend the event,
and
you will support our efforts
on behalf of education and
civil rights. For less than
it would cost to dine in
a
four-star restaurant
you can partake in this
unique display of fellowship.
Pease remit your check and
a note with
your name, address and
numberof tickets desired
to LALDEF, PO Box 80, Princeton
NJ 08542. We will follow
up
with details about the
event. Direct questions
to me at mpfk@princeton.edu
or 609.258.2237.
If
you know of young people in
the community who would
like to partake of this
event, please give the parents
the attached flier, and
ask them to contact us.
Thank
you for your generous contribution.
I look forward to shaking
your hand on September 29.
Sincerely,
Patricia
Fernández-Kelly,Chair
P.S. — If
you are unable to attend
the performance but would
still like to sponsor a
youngster and support LALDEF,
please
send in a fully deductible
contribution of $50 or more.
